 For this unit of Equality was focused on the future for humanity we with our final project being on what we think the world will look like 100 years from now told in a news cast format. I wanted to be optimistic for the future and for that good future for humanity involves the fall of autocratic states through out the world with democracy filling in to create a more successful government. so I focused on Russia and China more so as governments that need reworking. While these countries aren't the only autocratic states they are the biggest with China investing in other autocracies.  The Video: the Script: My political beliefs are that the best nations are the ones that give the most to ensure the expression of self.  For this project we studied audio in journalism learning about radio and its reincarnation as podcasting. we also took the time to recognize what makes a voice unique and make a podcast about what the voice repusents. CJH and I collaborated and focused ours on Stevie Wonder. For our podcast we divided the work by first recording us talking about Stevie and CJH would edit and upload then I would write the transcription. We choose Stevie Wonder because of his impact on both of our early lives and our respect for his work.  For this unit in journalism we focused on photography and understanding the intent behind this form of art. of course the AP is focused around trying it for our selves. Caring for the World: The meaning of life is the least helpful but best known question to the layman.  For this last unit we have learned about investigative journalism and its purpose in society acting as a detective force open to the people. So for this units AP we tried to write a story. I decided to focus on socialism and by extension communism and run poll on opinions about the economic systems. Money in America:      On June 23rd a man was handing out that days copy of The Challenge newspaper that represented The Progressive Labor Party and this inspired me to gauge opinions about communism and socialism gathering misconceptions about the economic systems and seeing if Bernie Sanders campaign has any staying power in american politics.           For this unit in Art of Rhetoric we focused on the early history of America and the hardships Native Americans faced along with their portrayal to Europeans and how visual rhetoric painted them in a biased false light.  Aside from that we studied various opinion pieces and more importantly how to establish your self as credible with out a formal education in the topic.  For this first unit of Art of Rhetoric we covered the basics of rhetoric. for the project we attempted to apply what we learned to a candidate and speak with there voice. For the past couple weeks we have been researching and discussing racial history in Chicago. We had the opportunity to discuss prejudice and how to legally deal with it along with a discussion on why the south side housing is cheaper and how black people have been confined to the area. We also spent the time reading A raisin in the sun to get further context of the past. This project we made a letter from the PoV of on of the main characters to state our opinion about one of the main plot points, If the black family should move into a white neighborhood. Before this project we read and studied The Taming of the Shrew  by Shakespeare Once we finished the reading we had to create a sonnet inspired by his work in the style of his sonnets including the rhyming scheme and the syllable structure. For this unit of Forbidden Books we focused censorship of books. Censorship is the act of silencing content that you don't agree with. most people censor content that are in direct completion with their morals. Tor most of the class we used Socrates as an example of how the Athenian government censored him. luckily his teaching were written down and preserved. after his death his philosophy effected western philosophy. one of the things that he invented is the Socratic dialog were you question someone to get to the point of someones opinion. here is an example: Character #1: As I was saying, the war on drugs was Nixon trying to throw black men into jail.  Character #2:Um excuse me, I believe that the 1970s-80s War on Drugs was not a war on Black people.  You must be crazy. #1: You don’t think the  War on Drugs was an attack on black people? #2: I believe that it’s a war on drugs because there was a problem with drugs, and it needed to be controlled. ...
