For this project in Forbidden books we had to do a research paper on our independent reading I learned about the criticisms launched at the book that resulted in its banning and give an opinion about if the book should be banned again if your curious here is my paper:

For this project we had to create a podcast talking to a character from our independent reading for the project i choose Holden Caulfield from C atcher in the Rye   J.D. Salinger. Script: Intro: WWII has ended and the veterans come home many seek success through higher education because of the GI bill Additionally NATO is created because of the tension with West Europe & America and the USSR. The tension created Mccarthyism or the campaign to root out communism in the country. The end of WWII led to the post war economic and baby boom, and conformity of the nuclear family that Holden is a product. But when there is conformity there is rebellion. For every tradition shared by the populous there will be someone spitting in the face of it. This leads us to Caulfield, Holden a 16 year old drop out. For this unit of Forbidden Books we focused censorship of books. Censorship is the act of silencing content that you don't agree with. most people censor content that are in direct completion with their morals. Tor most of the class we used Socrates as an example of how the Athenian government censored him. luckily his teaching were written down and preserved. after his death his philosophy effected western philosophy. one of the things that he invented is the Socratic dialog were you question someone to get to the point of someones opinion. here is an example: Character #1: As I was saying, the war on drugs was Nixon trying to throw black men into jail.  Character #2:Um excuse me, I believe that the 1970s-80s War on Drugs was not a war on Black people.  You must be crazy. #1: You don’t think the  War on Drugs was an attack on black people? #2: I believe that it’s a war on drugs because there was a problem with drugs, and it needed to be controlled. ...
