Profit in Gaming

For this unit in Art of Rhetoric we focused on the early history of America and the hardships Native Americans faced along with their portrayal to Europeans and how visual rhetoric painted them in a biased false light.  Aside from that we studied various opinion pieces and more importantly how to establish your self as credible with out a formal education in the topic. So below this paragraph is my shot at an Op-Ed by expressing my credibility without an masters in the economy, or experience creating a game in the current industry Op-Ed:          G aming is a highly opinionated topic. Hypercritical and hypocritical gamers will write a manifesto on r/gaming on Reddit about how some small indie horror game is the pinnacle of gaming. Alternatively, they will treat recent popular releases as the worst games to ever exist and how the entire fanbase is toxic, while being toxic themselves. But every gamer will agree on ...

Easy Gardening

Image
For this unit in Design & Engineering we spent our time studying and understanding Simple machines, basics of physics and insight to an engineering career. for this project our task was to redesign an existing gardening tool for use for elderly people. We also practiced empathy or to understand each others point of view so we can cater our redesign better to the elderly. While researching I've realized a handful of things such as automation, force multiplication, weight, & durability are all important aspects in every tool. with automation intruding spring to release blades or finding the Goldilocks weight for a tool. for my project I based my project off this hatchet: Some of my changes are :     filling in the holes at the head to increase the  weight so less force from the user is required to apply the same force with a standard model.      a second idea to apply more force to the second handle is to make a lever system to catch a branch an...

Whoops

For this first unit of Art of Rhetoric we covered the basics of rhetoric. for the project we attempted to apply what we learned to a candidate and speak with there voice. I chose Joe Biden and him apologizing for his comment "If you don't vote for me are you black" and how it was him trying to confirm the black vote.  Script:     To be the next leader of this great nation, especially when I'm up against a such an unbalanced system I have to do everything to any vote even if the phrasing is undesirable. After 36 years of serving as a Delaware senator I know how to get people into the polls, I know how to gain the African American vote, And I know how to appeal to american citizens. And now more than ever we have to band together not as races, not as genders, not as allies, but as a party because w e can never risk man like Trump ruining our nation. We be sure everyone will do everything to ensure a peaceful land of the free. Even if my statements are crude...

The Raisin in our shade

Image
For the past couple weeks we have been researching and discussing racial history in Chicago. We had the opportunity to discuss prejudice and how to legally deal with it along with a discussion on why the south side housing is cheaper and how black people have been confined to the area. We also spent the time reading A raisin in the sun to get further context of the past. This project we made a letter from the PoV of on of the main characters to state our opinion about one of the main plot points, If the black family should move into a white neighborhood. I decided to take the side of moving into the neighborhood for the project. I made this letter from the PoV of the youngest of the main characters Travis. Hey Dad, It's me, Travis. I want you to at least listen to me. I think we should move into Grandmama's house. I think we should be the first black family to move into Clybourne Park. We can make ourselves part of the community. You owe it to Mama because it...

Unnecessary and worthwhile commentaries

Before this project we read and studied The Taming of the Shrew  by Shakespeare Once we finished the reading we had to create a sonnet inspired by his work in the style of his sonnets including the rhyming scheme and the syllable structure. So for my sonnet I focused on Vincentio and chastising him for being so lenient with his son trying to mimic the play by acting like and old Italian nobleman expressing distaste for a college and here is the sonnet Vincentio how could you listen to  such an unruly, underhanded child. Lucentio has made a fool of you With his actions your name is defiled. A coup he is a planning and hatching To marry a timid, gorgeous raven. Lucentio Has been Coney catching  His behavior is like a wild, fondly craven. He promises your fortune thereafter To greedy Baptisa, are you supple? And arranges an imposter after Who pledges his fortune to the couple. You said, I’ll not budge an inch.  Are you a jolt head o...
