Easy Gardening

For this unit in Design & Engineering we spent our time studying and understanding Simple machines, basics of physics and insight to an engineering career. for this project our task was to redesign an existing gardening tool for use for elderly people. We also practiced empathy or to understand each others point of view so we can cater our redesign better to the elderly. While researching I've realized a handful of things such as automation, force multiplication, weight, & durability are all important aspects in every tool. with automation intruding spring to release blades or finding the Goldilocks weight for a tool. for my project I based my project off this hatchet: Some of my changes are :     filling in the holes at the head to increase the  weight so less force from the user is required to apply the same force with a standard model.      a second idea to apply more force to the second handle is to make a lever system to catch a branch and when you squeeze the second
